Authorities pulled a man and a woman out of the water after their row boat overturned in Central Park Lake Thursday. Andrew Siff reports.
Firefighters and emergency crews pulled a man and a woman out of the water after the couple's row boat overturned in Central Park Lake Thursday.
The man told police he was trying to retrieve an oar that had dropped into the lake and fell in when he leaned over to get it.
Ronnoy Ripoll, a boathouse worker, said the pair were hanging onto another boat when rescuers reached them.
Ripoll described the couple as "a little nervous."
The two refused medical attention and left the park holding hands.
Park-goers said falling into the murky water would have left them shaken.
"I would probably panic because the water is really gross and I don't know what's in it," said Julia Mahoney.
