Drugged-Driving Arrest After Fatal Long Island Wreck

Police say the driver was impaired by drugs

Police say a Long Island woman is charged with driving under the influence of drugs following a crash that killed a man.

The two-car accident occurred around 9 p.m. Monday in Centereach.

Suffolk County Police say the victim, Imran Rehman of Centereach, was struck as he tried to turn onto Route 25. The 20-year-old was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The other driver, 37-year-old Debra Pendzick of Center Moriches, was arrested on charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

The name of her attorney was not immediately known.

She will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
