Cellphone App Helps Cops Find Robbery Suspects

A "Find My iPhone" app helped police find a group of robbery suspects who were subsequently nabbed with guns, drugs and, of course, a stolen iPhone, NYPD investigators said.

A pair of suspects pulled guns on two people inside the lobby of a Bronx building at about 2 a.m. Sunday and demanded their wallets and cellphones, police said. They fled the building with the stolen property and were last seen headed towards Amsterdam Avenue.

Investigators used the "Find My iPhone" app to trace the phone to a black Toyota Camry at the intersection of 204th Street and 9th Avenue in the Bronx, police said. Police stopped the car and the two victims identified the suspects as the robbers, police said.

Investigators arrested the four people in the car and seized the stolen iPhone, as well as two handguns, stolen credit cards, cocaine and marijuana, police said.

Henry Piyano and Nader Rodgers, both 20, Sergio Jimenez, 22, and Fabeon Galindez 19, were each charged with robbery and drug and weapons possession, according to polce records.

It was unclear whether they had lawyers.
