Nationally-Renowned Cardiologist From New Jersey Indicted on Charges He Fondled Patients

A nationally-renowned cardiologist from New Jersey has been arrested for allegedly fondling patients at his practice, prosecutors say.

John Strobeck, 67, was indicted this week on two counts of criminal sexual contact for allegedly groping two patients during medical examinations at his Hawthorne practice.

The indictment stems from a complaint made by one of the victims to local police in May 2012. Prosecutors discovered the second victim in the course of their investigation.

Strobeck is director of the Heart Failure Program at Valley Hospital and founder of the Heart-Lung Associates of America in Hawthorne.

Information on his attorney wasn't immediately available.

The Star-Ledger reported Strobeck could not be reached at his office Wednesday and Valley Hospital didn't immediately respond to its request for comment.
