Car Bursts Into Flames Near Queensboro Bridge, Snarling Traffic

A car fire by the entrance to the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge on the Upper East Side snarled traffic in the area during the evening rush. 

It's not clear what ignited the fire at First Avenue and East 60th Street. Flames billowed from the vehicle at the intersection, sending up heavy black smoke.

FDNY responded and knocked out the blaze, leaving behind a charred, gutted sedan. 

Flooding on the FDR Drive during the storm Tuesday was causing a traffic mess on the Upper East Side during the evening rush. Michael George reports.
