Woman Found on Subway Tracks at Canal Street Likely Fell: Officials

A woman whose body was found in the subway at Canal Street in Manhattan on Sunday had signs of trauma consistent with a fall onto the tracks, law enforcement officials tell NBC 4 New York.

Investigators believe the woman, identified as 22-year-old Emily Singleton of Park Slope, Brooklyn, was carrying just a MetroCard and a pack of cigarettes.

Singleton was seen on video at a bar on 14th Street, with two women and a man. Another surveillance camera nearby shows her staggering toward the train station, and she used her MetroCard just before 2 a.m.

She was found Sunday on the tracks, and had scrape wounds that police believe were caused by a passing train after she had fallen.
