Glitch Takes Down CUNY Online Registration System

Thousands of CUNY students are experiencing a bumpy return to school because of a glitch that's preventing them from registering for classes, access coursework and pay tuition, officials say.

CUNY said its CUNY First system first experienced problems earlier this week that affected some student class registration and related access, according to officials.

A software team was deployed to the school, and it appears the system has been responsive. Officials say they'll continue to monitor the system to make sure it's stable and accessible.

This was the first academic year in which all CUNY colleges were conducting registration and other similar transactions online.

CUNY says it's extending its deadline for course changes and late registration in order to accommodate students who have been unable to register for or withdraw from classes as a result of the problem.
