Firefighters were battling two separate large brush fires on Staten Island late Wednesday.
Strong winds and dry conditions were fueling the fires which brought firefighters from every borough of the city to fight the flames.
A fire in Great Kills Park, part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, reached six alarms with more than 250 firefighters responding to the area.
Another fire across the island on Woodrow Road and Alexander Avenue in Arden Heights reached five alarms.
The blazes affected an area that has been touched by brush fires in the past, officials said.
The area has been under a red flag warning for most of the day meaning that conditions were highly favorable for brush fires to develop and spread.
According to officials, there were two minor injuries and there have been no reports of property damage.
