Brush Fire Forces Outages on NJ Transit, PATH

New Jersey Transit says rail service has been restored between Newark Penn Station and New York Penn Station, but riders are facing delays of up to an hour.

Service had been suspended earlier Wednesday afternoon due to a brush fire in Newark and Kearny. It had affected Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, Raritan Valley Line and Midtown Directs trains.

PATH also suspended its service due to the fire, but later resumed regular operations in both directions between Newark and Journal Square.

No injuries were reported after the brush fire broke out, but officials say strong winds were hampering efforts to contain the blaze.
