A driver trying to flee a crash in Brooklyn sped the wrong way down a street and plowed into a day care center, sending bricks flying as he rammed into the gate, authorities say.

The man first crashed into a vehicle and a fence at a middle school at the intersection of Veronica Place and Albemarle Road in Midwood at about 12:30 p.m., according to police.

He then fled, speeding through streets before going the wrong way down Lott Street and crashing into the day care center.

No one at the center was hurt.

Police took the driver into custody at the scene, and charges are pending.
