Man Found Stabbed to Death in Brooklyn: NYPD

A young man was found stabbed to death in a building hallway in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn early Monday morning, police and neighbors say.

The 20-year-old man was found with stab wounds to the chest and trauma to the body inside the Park Slope building on 16th Street at about 4 a.m., police said.

EMS took the man to Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man has not been identified, and police haven't said whether they've identified a suspect or motive.

A longtime resident in the neighborhood says he learned that a young person had been killed in a hallway. He said while the death is disturbing, he doesn't feel unsafe.

"Although this is a little extreme, I'm not terribly surprised -- there's some things going on there that we believe could lead to violence," said Stephen Christopher, referring to the neighbors who live in the building where the man was killed. "But it would be among the element. I don't think people who don't deal with them are really in much danger at all."

The building was taped off as police investigated Monday.
