Brooklyn Boy, 15, Faces Weapons Charge: NYPD

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on New Year's Day after officers patrolling a public housing complex in Brooklyn spotted him firing a gun at two males, police said Saturday.

The suspect, whose name wasn't released by officers because of his age, fired a 9mm handgun at the two males outside the Breevort Houses in Bedford Stuyvesant and then chased them into one of the apartment buildings, police said.

Uniformed officers in an unmarked car witnessed the shooting, exited their vehicle and chased the teen. As they approached the boy they saw him toss the gun to the floor.

Officers seized the weapon and charged the youth with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. He was charged as a juvenile.

There was no indication that the youth had obtained a lawyer who could comment on the changes.
