Brooke Astor's Son, Convicted of Looting Fortune, Eligible for Medical Parole

Anthony Marshall was convicted in 2009 of exploiting his mother's dementia to loot her fortune

Anthony Marshall, who's serving one to three years in prison for defrauding his philanthropist mother Brooke Astor, has been classified as eligible for medical parole.

A Department of Correction spokesman tells the Daily News that Marshall will go before a parole board the week of Aug. 19.

Marshall began serving the sentence in June. He was convicted in 2009 for exploiting his mother's dementia to loot her multimullion dollar fortune

Marshall suffers from Parkinson's disease.

His lawyer, Kenneth Warner, says he hopes Marshall will be released on medical parole as soon as possible.

The 89-year-old Marshall is at the Fishkill Correctional Facility in Beacon.

The News says the Manhattan district attorney's office declined to comment.
