Police in the Bronx killed a vicious dog that attacked its owners Monday evening, according to law enforcement sources.

The two victims, a brother and sister, were on the sixth floor of the apartment in the Highbridge area when the animal bit their legs and arms at about 6 p.m. It's not clear what caused the dog to get aggressive.

When police arrived, they fired one shot at the dog, killing it.

The victims were taken to Lincoln Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The police who responded to the scene were also taken to the hospital for trauma.

The breed of the dog was not immediately clear.
