Police Investigate 3rd Night of Tire-Slashings in Bronx

At least a dozen incidents of tires being slashed were reported

At least a dozen incidents of tire-slashings in a Bronx neighborhood are under investigation Tuesday, the third straight day residents have woken up to find their cars vandalized.

Residents in the St. Mary's Houses in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx reported finding their tires slashed in their parking lots Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Fannie Suber, who lost all four of her car tires, said she has no choice but to let the damage sit.

"There's nothing I can do," she said. "I don't have the money."

Police said more than a dozen incidents have been reported, and investigators are looking to see if surveillance video may have captured the suspect in action. Until then, NYPD is stepping up its patrols overnight, police said.
