Bronx Shooting Leads to Motorcycle Accident: Police

Police say a man who was shot while sitting in a car in the Bronx sped off, hitting a motorcycle and seriously injuring its driver Sunday evening.

The 24-year-old driver was sitting in a black Dodge Avenger with some other people in Wakefield when the car was shot at by an unknown suspect, police say.

While the suspect fired at least nine times, only the driver was hit once in the hip, and he drove off, police say.

Shortly after, the car was struck on the side by a motorcycle at Nereid Ave and Baychester Avenue, according to authorities.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound and he is expected to recover. The 42-year-old motorcyclist was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for head trauma and serious facial injuries, and is in stable condition.

Police say no arrests have been made.

Concerned residents at the scene said the neighborhood is safe and quiet.

“We heard about it and we came down to make sure it wasn’t any family or friends,” said neighbor Kimone Brown.
