Bronx Robbers Throw Baby to Ground, Tie Up Mom

The 10-month-old child sustained bruising to the eye, police say

Police are looking for a trio of robbers in the Bronx who snatched a woman's baby from her arms and threw him to ground before tying the woman up and stealing cash and jewelry from her home.

The three men entered a home on University Avenue in University Heights through a basement door at about 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, police said. They approached the victim, who was holding her 10-month-old son and ordered her to put the child down.

When the victim refused, one of the men took the baby from her arms and threw him on the floor, bruising his eye, according to authorities. The group of robbers then tied up the victim and took cash and jewelry from the home before running away.

The child was treated and released from North Central Hospital.

The robbers are described as follows:

- A 25- to 30-year-old man, about 170 pounds, wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jeans, black boots and a blue Yankee cap

- A 25- to 30-year-old man, wearing a reflective road work vest

- A man wearing blue jeans

Police have released surveillance video of the robber in the work vest. Anyone who has information on him or his accomplices is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or at nypdcrimestoppers.com.
