NYC Woman Accused of Marrying 10 Times, Never Filing for Divorce

A New York City woman is facing felony charges after getting married 10 times without divorcing any of her husbands, a criminal complaint alleges.

Liana Barrientos, 38, is charged with offering a false instrument after allegedly obtaining marriage certificates with 10 men between 1999 and 2010. She never filed for a single divorce, the complaint alleges.

The complaint alleges that Barrientos filed for marriages in different towns each time, mainly in Westchester County and on Long Island.

Her first marriage was filed in Eastchester in 1999. During an 10-month period in 2001 and 2002, the complaint alleges, she applied for and received eight more marriage certificates.

Barrientos didn’t apply for another marriage license until March 4, 2010, when she married a man in the Bronx. The complaint alleges that the woman said at that time that it was her first and only marriage.

Barrientos was arraigned on Nov. 6, 2014, and is expected to appear before a judge on Friday. Her attorney's information wasn’t immediately available.
