Hit-and-Run Leaves 26-Year-Old Bronx Cyclist Dead: Police

Giovanni Nin, of the Bronx, was struck by a light colored SUV traveling eastbound on the East Tremont Avenue around 12:40 a.m., police said.

Police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a 26-year-old bicyclist early Saturday in the Bronx and sped away.

Giovanni Nin, of the Bronx, was struck at about 12:40 a.m. by a silver BMW X5 traveling eastbound on the East Tremont Avenue, police said.

Police found the severely injured Nin lying in the road near Maryflower Avenue. EMS arrived and pronounced Nin dead at the scene, investigators said.

Nin was bicycling to his girlfriend's home at the time of the incident. He was headed there to rest because he was called in to work a 3 a.m. shift at FedEx, his family said.

He uses his bicycle to commute to work.
