8 Firefighters Hurt in 4-Alarm House Fire in the Bronx: Officials

Eight firefighters sustained minor injuries as crews attempted to get a handle on a raging four-alarm blaze that tore though a home in the Bronx on Tuesday morning, officials say.

The blaze broke out at the home on East 232nd Street near the borders of the Wakefield and Edenwald neighborhoods at about 8:30 a.m., according to fire officials.

Chopper 4 photos show flames and smoke pouring from the windows of the rowhouse. Several firefighters are at the scene dousing the heavily damaged structure.

At least one of the firefighters was seen at the site on a stretcher with an oxygen mask.

No injuries to any of the dwelling's residents have been reported.

The blaze was more or less contained by mid-morning.
