A Bronx apartment building was evacuated after a staircase collapsed, injuring one man.

Authorities say the staircase collapsed inside an apartment building on east 166th street Saturday in the Fleetwood-Grand Concourse Village section.

A 20-year-old man was injured when he fell through the stairwell from the second to the first floor, officials said.

The man, who did not live in the building and was visiting his sister when he took the fall, is recovering from his injuries and is expected to be OK.

Crews built a temporary platform to get all the tenants out of the building safely.

The red cross was assisting residents from the building's 14 apartments to find shelter while repairs are made.
