Suspects Sought in Armed Robbery, Attemped Murder of Police Officer

Police tried to stop a man wanted for an armed robbery when he ran away and fired shots at them

Police are searching for a suspect in the attempted murder of a police officer in the Bronx early Tuesday.

Surveillance video of the incident captured the man shooting wildly behind him as he ran away from police.

It happened at about 12:40 a.m. on Tuesday, when police officers attempted to stop a man who fit the description of an armed robbery suspect.

The man ran away, firing three shots at the police officers as he fled. Neither the suspect or the officers were struck.

Police are also still searching for the other suspect in the robbery, which happened Monday at the intersection of Manida Street and Lafayette Avenue. The two suspects approached a a 40-year-old man, showed a gun and demanded his property. They ran away without getting anything.

The suspects are described as about 18 to 22 years old, with thin and medium builds and black hair. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or at nypdcrimestoppers.com.
