4-Year-Old Boy Gets Stuck in Vending Machine

A 4-year-old boy got his arm stuck in a vending machine at a New Jersey ice skating facility Wednesday, but he got a free snack for his troubles.

The Hackensack Fire Department says it responded to a call at the Ice House, which, with four rinks, bills itself as the largest ice skating facility in the metro area, shortly after 7 p.m. and found the boy with his arm in the machine.

Firefighters spent 45 minutes trying to wrest the frightened child free. Eventually, the owner of the vending machine came with the key and got the boy out.

The vending machine owner told the Hackensack Daily Voice the machines are designed "so that this doesn't happen." It's not clear how the boy got stuck.

Ultimately, he was OK, and got a free bag of popcorn, according to the Daily Voice.
