Boy, 4, Fatally Struck by Minivan in Front of Bronx Home: Police

Ebrahim Kebe of the Bronx was hit by a 2010 Chrysler minivan in front of his home at about 6 p.m.

Police say a 4-year-old boy has died after being struck by a minivan in the Bronx Tuesday evening.

The child, Ebrahim Kebe of the Bronx, was hit by a 2010 Chrysler minivan in front of his home at about 6 p.m. on Topping Avenue in the Mount Hope section.

Emergency responders transported Kebe to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"It's really painful," said the victim's adult brother Mohammed Kebe. "Nobody wants to see your kids like that."

It's not clear how the boy got into the street. Family members said his mother was inside doing laundry.

Mohammed Kebe said the driver should have taken precautions on the street.

"There is a bunch of kids who run outside during the summer, so you can't speed like that," he said, though police said there was no criminality suspected.

Neighbors on the block said they see the family's children playing in the streets frequently.

Investigation is ongoing. Police said the driver was cooperating.
