A 16-year-old boy was slashed while watching a "War for Peace" basketball tournament at a park on Long Island.

Police say the teen was at a tournament sponsored by the Roosevelt Lions Club in Centennial Park in Roosevely around 1 p.m. Sunday when a fight broke out around him. They say he was surrounded by about 100 young men and then slashed. He also was punched.

The boy, who was not identified, was treated at a hospital for a slash wound from his ear to his chin. Police say it was done with a knife or box cutter.

An investigation is continuing.
