A Monmouth County boy accidentally shot himself in the leg while at home Monday evening, police said.
It happened on Broad Street in Keyport.
The boy, who is said to be around 10 years old, was taken to Jersey Shore Trauma Center with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was treated for a superficial wound. No surgery was needed.
Police would not say how the boy got his hands on the gun, but no criminality was suspected.
