Young Woman Found Dead in Massachusetts Woods Was Wearing Marist College Sweatshirt: Officials

The medical examiner's office said the remains are believed to be those of a black woman in her late teens or early 20s

Investigators say a young woman found dead in some Massachusetts woods earlier this week was wearing a Marist College sweatshirt, and they're looking for help determining her identity.

The woman likely died months ago, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said at a news briefing Friday. The Marist sweatshirt, along with sweatpants, a bangle bracelet and a ring, was discovered with her bones in a wooded area in Dedham on Tuesday.

It's not clear if officials believe the Marist sweatshirt means the woman was from New York or had a local connection; the school is in Poughkeepsie. The medical examiner's office said the remains are believed to be those of a black woman in her late teens or early 20s.

No cause of death has been issued at this point, but investigators said they are not ruling out foul play. Authorities released photos of the items found with the woman (above) and ask anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the DA's office at 781-830-4990 or Dedham police at 781-751-9300.
