Bon Jovi Opens New Meadowlands Stadium in Style

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played the last concert at Giants Stadium in October.

But Bon Jovi got the honor of officially opening the New Stadium at the Meadowlands during a concert for about 65,000 fans Wednesday night.

The New Jersey-bred band launched the show with "Blood on Blood,'' "We Werent Born to Follow'' and ``You Give Love a Bad Name.''

Jon Bon Jovi, who grew up in Sayreville, told the crowd "I get to be the first guy to get on a big microphone and say welcome to the home of the Super Bowl!''

The NFL announced on Tuesday that the stadium would host the Super Bowl in 2014.

The football Giants and Jets, who own the stadium, are looking to cut a naming-rights deal.
