Firefighters Find Body in Burning Car on Long Island

It was discovered in a parking lot in Nissequogue just before noon.

Police are investigating a body found in a burning car on Long Island Tuesday morning.

Someone called 911 to report a car on fire in the parking lot of 721 Short Beach Road in Nissequogue just before noon, Suffolk County police said. When responding firefighters put out the blaze, they discovered the body inside.

The arson and homicide squads were investigating on the scene.

The village of Nissequogue is located in Smithtown.
