A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death and leaving her body in a 55-gallon barrel inside his Harlem apartment for several days.

Bismark Lithgow, of Harlem, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of Francis Angelica Alfonso Pellerano, whose body was found in the drum earlier this month after police responded to a call about a foul smell coming from his Seventh Avenue apartment.

The 19-year-old victim had been stabbed multiple times in the torso, the medical examiner said.

According to a law enforcement source, she had been planning on leaving Lithgow to move to the Dominican Republic.
