A boat crashed into a jetty at the entrance of the Patchogue River, injuring a passenger, police said Monday.
The owner of the boat fled after the Sunday night crash, police said. The 23-foot Sea Ray was extensively damaged and the owner is responsible for removing it from the rocks where it remains, police said.
One of the passengers -- Danielle Virgilio, 29, of Farmingdale -- was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Up to seven people where on the boat when it crashed, witnesses said. Several were uncooperative with investigating officers, police said.
