Bloomberg's mom has got it going on, but she won't be coming to his third inauguration as mayor of New York tomorrow.
Charlotte Bloomberg will remain in Massachusetts as her son gets sworn in New Year's Day, but it's not clear why. The Daily News reported her absence would be on account of the cold weather. But she'll still get to hang out with Mike this weekend.
The New Jersey-born mom of one of the world's richest men turns 101 on Saturday, and Bloomy will travel to Medford to celebrate her birthday with her, spokesman Stu Loeser told the News.
But Michael Bloomberg won't be entirely without family and loved ones as he takes the ceremonial oath of office. His daughters Emma and Georgina, sister Marjorie Tiven, and longtime companion Diana Taylor will accompany him on the steps of City Hall.
The mayor officially got sworn in today by City Clerk Michael McSweeney because all of the city's politicians are supposed to get sworn in before Jan. 1, reports the News.
Public Advocate Bill de Blasio took his oath yesterday, calling the experience "a humbling moment." He, along with Comptroller John Liu and Bloomberg, will give inaugural speeches tomorrow.
