A Westchester County hamlet is on alert after several bear sightings were reported over the past several days.

North Castle Police said several bear sightings were reported in Armonk in the last week, including Wednesday morning. One police officer spotted a black bear in Lombardi Park before it ran into the woods near the elementary and middle schools.

The Wampus Elementary School and Crittenden Middle School were put on alert, and the park was shut down, police said.

The Department of Environmental Conservation has been notified, police said.
