Mayor de Blasio Announces Wife's Role in Administration

Mayor de Blasio has announced his wife's official role in his administration will be to chair the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, a fundraising arm for city projects.

Chirlane McCray will help allocate money to various initiatives of the fund, and will meet with donors.

Her priorities for the fund include early childhood programs and those that help young people stay out of jail.

“I can’t think of anyone with a better grasp of the core mission of this administration than my wife and partner, Chirlane,” de Blasio said in a statement.

The fund was first established in 1994 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
