A 62-year-old Bethpage woman successfully chased an intruder out of her home when she woke up to a noise coming from her inside her house, but the suspect remains on the loose Thursday, police said.

The home invasion happened at about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, while the woman was sleeping in her bedroom at her Millpage Drive home, police said. The woman heard a noise, and a short time later, saw a man enter her bedroom.

The victim yelled and chased the intruder through her home and out the back door, police said. The suspect climbed over a back fence and fled on foot toward Stewart Avenue.

The suspect managed to take jewelry and cash before fleeing, according to police.

The suspect was about 28 to 30 years old, and was wearing dark clothing and a black baseball cap with the New York Mets emblem at the time of the home invasion, the victim told police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 877-244-TIPS.
