Suspect Wanted in NJ Home Invasion, Shooting Is Armed, Dangerous: Police

Authorities say both victims remained hospitalized

Police are seeking a fourth suspect in a home-invasion robbery that turned into a shooting of two men in northern New Jersey.

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says 24-year-old Hassan Sly of Newark is wanted on attempted murder, armed burglary and various weapons offenses.

Three people were arrested and charged earlier in the case.

Molinelli says the suspects intended to rob 21-year-old Gilbert Mercado of both money and drugs in his Bergenfield home on Sept. 1.

Both Mercado and 30-year-old John Newcomb were shot. Molinelli says both men are expected to fully recover.

Molinelli says police found drugs and an assault weapon in a search of Sly's home.

They're asking the public to consider Sly armed and dangerous and for anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact police.
