Police say they are looking for the man who uttered anti-gay slurs before attacking three women in Brooklyn last week.
The women, ages 29, 34, and 36, had just a left a nightclub on Franklin Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant at about 2:15 a.m. Oct. 26 when the suspect approached and made the statements, police say.
He then attacked the women, punching them and throwing them down onto the sidewalk, police said. All three victims were taken to the hospital with facial cuts.
One of the victims, who declined to give her name because she fears for her safety, said she was "truly saddened" by the attack.
"The tragic fact is that people still feel it's their right to hate others for something that really isn't any of their business," she said in a statement. "My sexuality is my business and I shouldn't have to be afraid to walk the streets of the city I love in fear of the ignorance and malevolent nature of strangers."
On Friday, activists from the New York City Anti-Violence Project held a rally in Bedford-Stuyvesant to raise awareness.
"No one should be experiencing violence at the hands of anyone," said activist, Shelby Chestnut. "We need to talk about this and we need to say this isn't going to happen in our communities."

The suspect was caught on surveillance video with three other people around the time of the attack.
Police are asking anyone with information about the attack to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
