Scattered Storms Expected to Dampen Labor Day Weekend

The tri-state area will see some rain this weekend, but it won't be a total washout

Heading to the beach for Labor Day weekend? Do it Saturday.

Forecasters predict scattered thunderstorms to affect much of the region Sunday and steadier storms to move in Monday. Sunday won't be a total washout, with temperatures in the low 80s and high humidity, but Saturday's the best day of this long weekend.

Temperatures Saturday are expected reach a high of 86 degrees, and though meteorologists don't expect it to be that sunny, beach-goers can still get their tans.

There's a 30 percent chance for rain Saturday, but the likelihood of storms increases over the next two days -- jumping to 50 percent on Sunday and 70 percent on Labor Day.

The weather improves by the middle of next week as a cold front sweeps away the muggy, soupy air that's been smothering the tri-state area, making way for sunny, comfortable weather with temperatures in the high 70s to low 80s on Wednesday and Thursday.
