A livery cab driver is in serious condition at a Brooklyn hospital after he crashed his cab into sidewalk scaffolding in Brooklyn Monday evening, police said.

The driver lost control near 79th Street and 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge at about 4:40 p.m., police said. The car slammed into scaffolding on the sidewalk, but no pedestrians on the ground were hurt.

The driver was rescued from the collapsed scaffolding and debris and was taken to Lutheran Hospital in serious but stable condition.
