Construction Worker at Barclays Center Crushed to Death by Steel Beams

A construction worker at Barclays Center was killed when several steel beams fell on top of him, crushing him, according to a police source and the construction company. 

The 52-year-old iron worker was helping to install the green roof on the arena when the beams toppled onto him, according to Greenland Forest City Partners.

"We are all devastated by what happened. All of us at Greenland Forest City Ratner Partners and Barclays Center extend our most heartfelt condolences to the worker's family and friends," the company said in a statement. 

It's not clear what caused the beams to fall. The company said it's working with investigators to determine what happened.
