Mmmm, Bacon. Festival in Hudson Honors Smoky Meat

There will be bacon-infused Rice Krispie treats, chocolate-covered bacon bits and bacon cookies as well as other variations

It's a day that would make Homer Simpson drool.

New York State's first Bacon Fest NY kicks off Sunday at the Henry Hudson Waterfront Park in Hudson. It comes one day after National Bacon Day, set aside to honor that salty, smoky, not-just-for-breakfast-anymore staple.

Mikko and Brian Cook dreamed up the festival that will feature bacon used in everything from appetizer to dessert.

There will be bacon-infused Rice Krispie treats, chocolate-covered bacon bits and bacon cookies as well as other variations.

And, of course, bacon-flavored ice cream.

It won't just be a treat for the tongue. The organizers expect other bacon creations such as soaps, candles and lip balms.
