A Long Island toddler was airlifted to the hospital after he spilled hot coffee on himself, scalding his chest and arm, authorities say.
The 18-month-old boy pulled down the cup of steaming coffee inside a house on East Cedar Street in Central Islip Thursday evening, burning himself on the body and part of his face, according to Suffolk police.
An ambulance transported him to a landing zone and a Suffolk County Police helicopter then transported him to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life threatening injures, police said.
The child had second-degree burns to his and his arm, and minor burns on his cheeks.
