  • Robert Bishun, 36, was found dead in the trunk of his own car hours after he was kidnapped from the auto body shop where he worked

Two Bronx men have been arrested on kidnapping and other charges in the death of a 36-year-old auto body shop worker who was found strangled in the trunk of his own car last year.

Officials say the two suspects, ages 37 and 39, robbed 36-year-old Robert Bishun, of Garnerville in Rockland County, at gunpoint while he was in his Bronx auto body shop in September. Police say the masked suspects burst into the shop and demanded money and jewelry, tying up two customers in the store and putting them in car trunks before driving off with Bishun.

The customers managed to free themselves and were not injured.

Authorities say the suspects left Bishun in his car trunk, where he was later found dead and bound with zip ties. Bishun had been a witness in a federal drug and weapons case; his death came just two weeks before the start of the trial. Police have not identified a possible motive for his slaying.

The suspects face several charges including robbery, conspiracy and kidnapping resulting in death.
