Man Throws Woman to Ground, Tries to Rape Her in Astoria

    Police are looking for a suspect who threw a 22-year-old woman to the ground and tried to rape her in Astoria early Sunday.

    Authorities say the woman was walking on 30th Avenue shortly before 3:30 a.m. when the suspect approached her from behind and pushed her to the street. Police say he tried to rape her on the ground.

    The woman fought back and the suspect ran off. She had cuts and scratches on her legs and buttocks but refused medical attention at the scene. 

    Authorities released a surveillance image of the suspect (above).
