Police say two aspiring New York rappers tried to shake a man down for $50,000 in a record deal gone awry.

Police say Ryan Mixon and Andres Lozano were arrested Saturday on charges of extortion and kidnapping. They were being held and it wasn't clear if they had attorneys.

The 27-year-old victim worked in the financial industry but was not identified by police.

The victim agreed to invest in a record deal this week, but then tried to break it off. Police say the men brandished a gun and forced the victim into a taxi, drove to an Apple store and forced him to buy $3,800 worth of items. Police say the two released him but said they'd kill him if he didn't pay the $50,000. He called police.
