Fire at New Jersey Six Flags Being Investigated as Arson

Fire officials and police say they're investigating the blaze at a New Jersey amusement park as an arson.

The initial blaze ignited inside a utility shed at the Six Flags Great Adventure's Safari Off-Road Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, just after 10 p.m. Monday.

As flames inside the shed were brought under control, four other small fires burned in a wooded area nearby. Firefighters had to cut through a fence to get close enough to extinguish the fires, officials said.

Safari Off Road Adventure is a 350-acre preserve and serves as home to about 1,200 animals from six continents.

None of the animals were in any danger during the blaze.

Officials told NBC10 in Philadelphia they believe the fires were intentionally set, but the exact cause of the blaze is unknown.
