Assault Suspect Dies in Custody of NYPD

Officers saw the man suffering a seizure in the precinct's holding area Friday morning

The NYPD says a man who was arrested for attacking a woman later suffered a seizure and has died in police custody.

Police responded to a domestic dispute early Thursday in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn.

A 48-year-old woman told police a 39-year-old man had assaulted her with a knife. The man was arrested and taken to the 88th Precinct for processing.

Police say the man required medical attention and was taken to Woodhull hospital. He was treated and returned to the precinct.

Officers saw the man suffering a seizure in the precinct's holding area Friday morning. He was pronounced dead by Emergency Medical Services.

The medical examiner will determine the man's cause of death. His name was not released.

The woman was treated for her injuries and released.
