Man, 24, Arrested in Attack on Gay Couple Last Spring

Authorities have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with an attack on a gay couple outside Madison Square Garden last spring.

The victims, 22 and 28, were walking arm-in-arm past a McDonald's near Madison Square Garden when a group of men in their 20s allegedly began yelling anti-gay comments, then pushed the victims to the ground and began punching one of them in the face, breaking his nose, authorities said.

The man arrested was charged with two misdemeanors, second-degree aggravated harassment and third-degree attempted assault as a hate crime.
