Police Arrest Man Suspected of Performing Lewd Acts Near Girls at Mall

Police say they've arrested a man suspected of performing lewd acts near young girls at the Palisades Center Mall in New York last month.

David Chardon, 22, of Nanuet was arrested Monday on charges of public lewdness, sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

Clarkstown police say in one incident on Dec. 26, the suspect approached a 10-year-old girl sitting on a Barnes & Noble bench and performed a lewd act near her.

She was shopping with her mother at the time.

He's also suspected of a similar act near an 8-year-old girl at the Bed Bath & Beyond in the mall five days earlier.

Chardon was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail. He's due back in court Wednesday.

It's not clear if he has an attorney.
