A 51-year-old registered sex offender is in custody in connection with eight armed robberies on the Upper East Side Police, law enforcement sources tell NBC 4 New York.

Robert David Hill was taken into custody Tuesday morning. Police expect to conduct a series of lineups later in the day.

Four of the incidents in which police say Hill was allegedly involved happened over a two-day period in late September.

Police say the suspect in those incidents approached each victim at gunpoint and demanded their property. Two of the robberies police believe to be part of the pattern happened on West 55th Street on Sept. 23 and the others happened on Sept. 24, one on East 70th Street and the other on East 88th Street.

Police had released surveillance video of one of the Sept. 24 incidents.

No further information was immediately available.
